Solidarity Network of grass root Environmental and Human rights defenders (SNEHRD)
SNEHRD is a group of individual grassroot Environmental and Human Rights Defenders (EHRDs) based in the Albertine region of Uganda responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of environmental and human rights amidst closing civic space for HRDs and CSO’s.
This network was born out of need to Strengthen the capacities of grassroot EHRDs and create an enabling working environment amidst closing civic space
WHAT WE DO
We strengthen grassroots Environmental and Human Rights Defenders (EHRDs) in Uganda by providing security training, legal empowerment, and emergency support, while advocating for a safer and enabling environment amidst closing civic space.
Capacity Building for EHRDs
We enhance the skills and knowledge of grassroots Environmental and Human Rights Defenders (EHRDs) through comprehensive training programs in security, legal empowerment, and monitoring and reporting.
Advocacy for Safe Civic Space
We advocate for policies and practices that create a safer and more enabling environment for EHRDs, ensuring their crucial work in promoting and protecting human rights is supported and respected.
Emergency Support and Protection
We provide timely emergency funds and conduct regular security risk assessments to ensure the safety and protection of EHRDs at risk, enabling them to continue their vital work amidst threats and challenges.
